What is a Stand Down?

What is a Stand Down?A stand down is a military term where war- ridden soldiers go to a place of security to receive such items as: personal hygiene, clean uniforms and medical care. OSDM applied the same concept to return the continuum of care to displaced veterans today.

Stand Downs are typically one to three day events providing

services to Veterans such as food, shelter, clothing, health

screenings, VA and Social Security benefits counseling, and

referrals to a variety of other necessary services, such as housing,

employment and substance abuse treatment. Stand Downs are

collaborative events, coordinated between Operation Stand Down
