Operation Stand Down Mid-South Inc. (OSDM) has inspired homeless and disabled veterans to become self- sufficient and economically viable members of their community since  2009. The organization started with four members: William Jones (Sargent First Class & U.S Army Retired), Joseph Tyler (United States Air Force Veteran), Tiffany L. Harris (United States Army Reserve Veteran), and Gloria Watkins. Together, they started a grassroots campaign to eliminate veteran homelessness in the Memphis area. In 2010, the organization hosted the first stand down event in the mid-south and helped 150 veterans. After seven years, their aspiration has turned a city wide movement into a Mid-South effort to aide their fellow comrades. OSDM has collaborated with Veteran service organizations, Department of Veteran Affairs, and community and faith- based organizations. In 2016, OSDM expanded their efforts to help veterans across the mid-south area including  Memphis, Forrest City, AR and Holly Springs, MS..
